John Amesse Elementary

For Kindness Day 2014,

Resort 2 Kindness planted a garden in order to create an environment that enhanced educational opportunities, both curriculum-based and hands-on, as well as strengthen a sense of community at John Amesse Elementary School. A variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, ground covers, vines and annuals were planted with the goals of inspiring an evolution of the curriculum to include math in the garden and beyond, to have enough food for certain students to take home, to use some of the produce in the school’s lunchroom so students could actually eat items they have grown, and set up a Farmer’s Market in the fall to share food with the community and raise funds that could be used to help sustain and expand the garden in the future.
